A storm, on the other hand, requires precise timing. You also need to make sure to be careful and stay safe. Since the light conditions will be changing so frequently, they will help quite a bit during a storm. You might try Neutral Density filters and ND Grad filters which can cut back on exposure that comes from a cloudy sky. Having a lens cloth on hand is also a must, as it will allow you to pat your lenses dry should they accidentally get wet.

The last of the storm photography tips to keep in mind is to be patient. You never know how a storm is going to behave, so it is not a bad idea to show up where a storm is supposed to head or hang around for a long time after one has subsided. The storm might do something unpredictable, and even if it doesn’t you will still have some amazing chances for excellent photographs.
